Welshpool Town Council have the following vacancies and are looking for highly motivated individuals to fill the roles.

Responsible Financial Officer (RFO)

Welshpool Town Council are looking to recruit an experienced Responsible Finance Officer (as set in statute – S151 Officer) to fill the role of the RFO at the Town Council. The successful applicant must have experience in areas such as managing the finances of the Town Council, maintaining and closing both revenue and capital accounts, budget preparation, have a comprehensive understanding of the financial and audit statutory and mandatory requirements and be able to give advice where required to Councillors. Applicants must be willing to attend evening meetings and undertake training and attend courses as required.

SPC 23 £30,149 – SPC 26 £32,909 pro-rata for 21 hours per week dependent on experience. Time in lieu is given for additional hours worked to attend meetings.

Operational Team Seasonal Worker

The Town Council Operational Team are looking for an experienced seasonal team member until the 31st October 2023. The role includes working on the open spaces, maintenance of sports pitches as well as assisting in getting Town Council properties ready for use and some cleaning.

The post is full time 37 hours per week to include evenings and weekends. Overtime will be paid for additional hours worked. A weekend rota system is used.

SCP5 £21,575 – SCP7 £22,369 for a 37 hour week dependent on experience

Welshpool Information Centre Assistant

The Town Council are looking for a 12 hour a week weekend assistant (and additional hours holiday cover) for the Information Centre until 31st October 2023 Experience in dealing with the public is essential and the ability to give people information and help, sell gifts and tickets for rail and holiday travel. Working with a committed team this is an essential service for both visitors and residents alike.

SCP5 £21,575 pro-rata for 12 hours per week

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a casual vacancy is deemed to have occurred in the office of Councillor for the Llanerchydol Ward of the Community of Welshpool Town Council on the resignation on 8th April 2023 of Councillor Harry Evans.

Rule 5 of The Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) Rules 2006, provides that on a casual vacancy occurring in the office of councillor of a community, an election to fill the vacancy shall be held if, within fourteen days (computed as stated below) after public notice of the vacancy has been given in accordance with Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act, 1972, notice in writing of a request for such an election has been given to the proper officer of the council of the county within which the community is situate signed by TEN electors for the electoral area.

The Proper Officer is the Deputy Returning Officer, Powys County Council, County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, LDI 5LG.
