Welshpool Town Council

Ken Skates Minister of Welsh Government has confirmed that the changes to the one way system in Welshpool will take place starting later in April 2019 (after Easter).

The works will take approx 6-8 weeks and will involve the following main elements:

a) Brook Street/Union Street will return to two way traffic along its entire length.

b) The traffic will be signposted from the station roundabout via Smithfield Road, Mill Lane past the Tourist Information Centre and up towards Raven Square.

c) The main shopping street will be a single lane of traffic. The parking will remain as now.

d) There will be a zebra crossing by the Town Hall area.

e) The road past the Westwood will be single lane to aid safety on the crossing.

f) At the junction with Union Street/Church Bank all traffic will turn left.  To go to Berriew Street you will go around the block back past the Tourist Information Centre but there will be no traffic conflict when entering Church Street.
