Welshpool Town Council
DATE SET FOR 26th OCTOBER

HOSPITAL REFERENDUM DETAILS

ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR WELSHPOOL

There has been much discussion over the past few years on where A&E services might be located. To be clear there will be a unit covering 60% of previous A&E services at Shrewsbury and Telford together with a Minor Injuries Unit in Welshpool.

What is changing is how the 'critical care' is provided.  At present some of the critical care is provided at Shewsbury and Telford but most is provided by Wolverhampton, Stafford or Stoke.  The plan is to move more of these services back to either Shrewsbury or Telford.

The other change is that the name A&E will change.  There will be Urgent Care Centres at Shrewsbury and Telford (doing around 60% of what A&E does now) with an Emergency Care Centre (Critial Care) at one of the sites.  Which ever site has the Emergency Care Centre will not have planned care (operations and treatments booked ahead) which will be located on the other site.

The reult of the Referendum is here. (both adult and youth)

The Town Council will now support in full option 1.

Option one

The Town Council is working with Future Fit and the Hospital Trust to ensure everything is the best it can be.
